Genital aesthetic surgeries – Clitoral hoodoplasty
Genital aesthetic surgeries – Clitoral hoodoplasty
Hoodoplasty — aesthetic correction of the skin folds covering the clitoris; the clitoris itself remains untouched.
Hoodoplasty is one of the aesthetic-surgical procedures performed to improve the appearance and functionality of the female external genital organs. This surgery is carried out in cases where the skin folds covering the clitoris (the clitoral hood) are large in shape and asymmetric. The procedure ensures a more aesthetic appearance of the clitoral area, can eliminate the discomfort arising during sexual relations and can lead to increased sexual sensitivity. Hoodoplasty is suitable for women whose skin folds around the clitoris are excessive or asymmetric, who feel aesthetic discomfort, or who complain of discomfort during sexual relations. This surgery is often performed together with labiaplasty (reduction of the labia minora).
How it is performed
Hoodoplasty is considered a minimally invasive, short-duration and generally painless procedure. In most cases it is performed under local anesthesia and takes approximately 30–45 minutes. As a surgical technique, the excess part of the clitoral hood is removed symmetrically, while the clitoris itself remains untouched; the sutures are closed with self-absorbing suture materials. Since the clitoris itself is not touched, sexual functions are fully preserved.
Preparation
Before the operation, expectations are discussed during the medical consultation and a gynecological examination is performed. When necessary, tests are done to rule out infections. The patient should inform the doctor about any medications used, especially blood thinners. It is recommended to schedule the operation for a time outside the menstrual period.
Recovery
Discharge home on the same day is possible. In the first days mild swelling and discomfort may occur; ice compresses and rest are recommended. Daily washing and the use of sterile hygienic pads are important. A 2-week break is advised for sport and physical activity, and sexual intercourse can be resumed after approximately a 4–6 week break. As a result, a neater, more symmetric and aesthetic appearance is achieved.
Frequently asked questions
Does hoodoplasty reduce sexual sensitivity?
No, the clitoris itself is not touched during the surgery; only the excess skin fold covering it is corrected. Therefore sexual functions are fully preserved, and in some cases sexual comfort even increases once discomfort is eliminated.
Can hoodoplasty and labiaplasty be done at the same time?
Yes, hoodoplasty is often performed together with labiaplasty. Such a combined approach provides a more comprehensive aesthetic result and goes through a single recovery period. Suitability is assessed by the doctor.
Since the clitoris itself is not touched during hoodoplasty, sexual functions are fully preserved. The operation has an aesthetic and functional purpose; the decision should be made after a medical consultation. The time frames given are for general guidance.
